The Factory that Time Forgot
While wandering the forests and meadows where my not-too-distant relatives once lived and laboured, I stumbled upon something I never knew existed.
A derelict factory, half-swallowed by vines and time.
I knew the names and stories of most of my grandparents’ siblings, nephews, and nieces—but there had always been whispers about one shadowy branch of the family.
A fortune made in shadowy circumstances
Rumour had it that one man from that generation made his fortune in ways never discussed at reunions. Eccentric and well-to-do, he purchased a stretch of land at the back of his estate and erected a “factory of sorts”.
No one could say what he truly intended. His goals and ambitions dissolved into myth.
An entire line of vehicles waiting for a debut that never came.
After clearing away years of encroaching vegetation and debris, we forced our way inside. What we found left us speechless. Working in secrecy, this forgotten relative and his small team had created an entire line of vehicles—fully realized, meticulously crafted, and waiting for a debut that never came.
Some unknown circumstance halted everything, freezing his dream in place. Now, decades later, a complete automotive world lay before us.
Rust had bloomed across their frames. Cobwebs stitched dashboards to steering wheels.
Yet, beneath the decay, they remained astonishingly intact—still capable of life with nothing more than a careful clearing of critters and time.

Once coaxed into motion, we decided to honour their original purpose. Though unrestored, we placed them into the roles they had been built for, as if completing a story interrupted mid-sentence.
A limousine delivering to the entrance of a deluxe hotel.
.
A convertible basking in the salt air along a sunlit beach.
.
A pickup truck hauling hay across a working ranch.
`
A sports car carving the curves of the Amalfi Coast.
.
A sedan waiting patiently for families at a country club.

In those moments, it felt as though we were not merely testing machines—but resurrecting a forgotten dream, letting it finally breathe in the world it was meant to join.
Road-testing the ancient sedan
Our next step was an all-out trial of the sedan, entrusted to our crew and carried out under conditions as unusual as the discovery itself. Forest tracks, winding country roads, rain-slicked pavement, sun-baked gravel—each became a proving ground.
The car responded with quiet confidence, as though grateful to finally fulfill its purpose. You be the judge of its capabilities.
Back into the fantasy showroom
When the testing was complete, a certain reverence settled over us. It felt wrong to leave these machines scattered across borrowed realities.
So we returned every vehicle to its original state—and to its birthplace. One by one, they rolled back into the factory, the wayward dream reassembled.
Now, they rest as they once did, poised beneath high windows and drifting dust, arranged in their intended showroom splendour.
Silent again, yes—but no longer forgotten. Enjoy the vehicles as they were meant to be seen, in splendour in their respective showrooms.
