East Coaster of the Day: 1963 Ford Thunderbird

Today’s East Coaster is an Atlantic Canada beauty. The iconic Thunderbird brand first launched in 1955.

Third generation T-Birds (1961-1963) were all powered by a 300-horsepower 390 V-8 engine, mostly topped with a four-barrel carburetor.

For the first half of the 1962 model year, the car was available with a ‘tripower’ three two-barrel carb setup. This increased horsepower to 345. The setup was problematic, though, and discontinued halfway through the model year.

This practically-perfect 1963 model has the push-away steering wheel that made driver entry and exit easier. The pristine Thunderbird belongs to Pearl Gallant who has proudly owned it for six years.
