 2008 Mustang Shelby GT500

Hugh Reid is the proud owner of this 2008 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500. Hugh bought the racy sports car, deep blue with white racing stripes, in Ottawa and drove it home. Hugh intended to stop along the way but once he started driving, he didn’t want to stop. He drove all night.

Powering the iconic muscle car is a 5.4-litre supercharged V8 engine mated to a six-speed manual transmission producing 500 horsepower.

With only 35,000 kilometres on the odometer, the 12-year-old Mustang Shelby GT500 is pretty well stock. Hugh has modified the suspension and lowered it so it rides a bit firmer. According to Hugh, he loves the ride now. His wife? Not so much.

The Shelby Mustang is a high-performance variant of the Ford Mustang which was built by Shelby American from 1965 to 1968 and from 1969 to 1970 by Ford. In 2005, Ford Motor Company revived the Shelby nameplate for a new high-performance model of the fifth generation of Mustang, this time designed and built by Ford.
