Bert Hickman of St. John’s, Newfoundland and Labrador owns A LOT of vintage and classic cars. That’s not an overstatement.
In 2015, when Bert and his wife, Susan, attended a Barrett-Jackson auction in Palm Beach, Florida, he had his eye on a 1959 Oldsmobile two-door hardtop. It was black and Bert could easily see that it was one straight classic car and a perfect addition to his collection of almost 30 antique cars.
Somehow, though, between the auctioneer’s enthusiasm, hands waving everywhere, and Susan oohing and aahhing about the coral-coloured Cadillac on the auction block at the moment, Bert ended up with this 1958 Cadillac Series 62 Coupe deVille.

He shipped the car to their home in Newfoundland, put a set of period-correct whitewall tires on the coral gem and made Susan the very happy owner of a 1958 ‘pink’ Cadillac.

The 5,000-pound behemoth is powered by a 310-horsepower 365 CID V8 engine, connected to four-speed hydramatic transmission.

Bert doesn’t know much about the car’s history but before it got to the auction, it had a frame-off restoration in Arkansas where it had spent most of its life.

This car was built during Cadillac’s heyday. Imagine nine different body styles for one car in one model year!
